Eclipse Bar, Kensington

If you’re looking for a truly decadent cocktail menu, a list of shots that’s full of Champagne and a lovely little setting to drink them in then head to Eclipse in Kensington. It’s run by the same people as Prince Harry’s favourite London club Boujis, which will probably give you a taste of what to expect… plenty of premium spirits, expert mixologists, great music and sky high prices.

We began with the Royal Raspberry Mojito (Stoly Raspberry Vodka, fresh mint, lime and sugar topped with Angostoura bitters & Champange) – which wasn’t quite as exciting as it sounds, I must admit. But good nonetheless. A lychee martini was perfectly sweet and perfectly drinkable, too – probably one of our better choices.

Black and Blue was more blue than it was black, and tasted of all the alcohol in the world. It’s made with raspberry vodka, blueberries, blackberries and lime so is probably incredibly healthy if you think about it.

A grape flavoured Champagne cocktail was one of the oddest things we tried… drinkable but it just didn’t really do it for me. I concluded that there’s probably a reason why cocktails don’t generally come in grape flavour.

The shots, too, were some of the best I’ve had… ever. I’d recommend the ‘True Romance’ – a sour bright red thing which contains Stolichnaya vodka, Lychee liquor, fresh raspberries, lime juice and, of course, Champagne.

The Verdict: Really good cocktails and a very interesting list. The best shots ever, and a nice intimate bar. Perfect for girly drinks or the starting bar for a big night out. Give it a try (on pay day).
