Brixton is cool now. Did you know? As if they were worried about people disputing this fact the good people of Brixton have taken the trouble to fill their undercover market with trendy foodie establishments. You know the ones; they don’t take reservations, they’re full of people drinking out of jam jars, food comes on ironic enamel plates. It’s all very sustainable, yah?
One of these newfound foodie hotspots is Honest Burgers, the world’s tiniest and yet most excellent burger restaurant. As is the done thing now, the menu here is simple and small, so small in fact that it takes the form of a flow chart. Novel, I know.
The options are as follows – Chicken (free range, obviously), Beef (ginger pig dry aged) or Veggie (not worth mentioning). Toppings include all the usual suspects; many a cheese, red onion relish, pickles, bacon and so on. In a marvellous twist, however, Honest Burgers also offer GLUTEN FREE buns. I cannot tell you how excited I was about this. I am still reeling from the discovery.
The burgers are cooked medium rare unless you demand otherwise, and served in quick sharp time with rosemary chips or salad if you’re feeling marginally health conscious. They taste fantastic, delicious, juicy and brilliant. And at only £8 for a cheeseburger and chips they are proving mighty popular, so expect to queue unless you time your visit absolutely perfectly.
Gluten Free? So gluten free. Couldn’t be more gluten free. There’s even gluten free beer. It’s just brilliant!
The Verdict: Love it. Want to go every day, forever.
